Perfumer and teacher in my field for twenty years, it was while preparing for my classes that I thought of this book. I wanted to tell how the perfumer’s imagination works, to describe how the artist structures his thinking and exercises his profession. For that, I had to describe a language with its codes, its concepts, which often borrow from other arts such as music or painting. Are we not talking about “notes”, “chords”, “shape” of the perfume? This language, however, has not always existed. To understand how and when it had emerged, I had to go “To the sources of perfume”.<\/p>\n

Author information<\/strong> : A chemist by training (Marie Curie University) and perfumer for twenty years, Marina Jung All\u00e9gret has set up a company (L\u2019Abc du parfum) which aims to pass on her profession to the general public. Its courses and conferences (Ecole Sup\u00e9rieure du Parfum, L\u2019ESSEC, EIML School of Luxury Marketing) invite participants to enter the world of perfume, to understand its concepts, rules and language. Everyone approaches the composition and creates their own unique and personalized perfume.<\/p>\n
